The three-phase motor
The three-phase motor is the most important and
widespread electrical motor world-wide. It is exemplified by
its robust construction, economically-priced design and high
degree of protection. The resulting world-wide areas of
application demand economic drive engineering concepts: From
the simple motor start up to speed adjustment and control.
The following engineering solutions are generally used:
Soft starter/DS4 semiconductor contactors

A soft and
smooth motor start is enabled by the electronic soft
starter. It provides stepless control of the of the
three-phase motor supply voltage in the start phase. The
motor torque is matched to the load-performance of
the machine load and provides smooth acceleration.
Mechanical stresses and motor current peaks are avoided. The classic
star-delta function can be simply replaced. DS4
semiconductor contactors, depending on the version, can
be used for motor loads (as soft starters) or non-motor
loads (as semiconductor contactors).

Top-quality
soft starters such as the DM4 series can be individually
matched to the requirements of the respective
applications, and offer soft starting in its most
comfortable form. A specific
motor current reduction in the start phase and an
application specific parameter definition ensure optimum
matching to the characteristics of the three-phase
drive. The DM4 can be used in the
In Delta and
In Line configurations.. The highest level of
operating comfort, optional communication modules and
motor protection functions which are already integrated,
assure simple and safe handling of the drive.

Frequency inverters DV51, DV6/DF51, DF6
Frequency inverters convert the constant voltage and
frequency of the mains supply to a DC voltage The frequency
inverter generates a new three-phase supply with a variable
voltage and frequency for the three-phase motor from this DC
voltage.
This allows optimum matching of the speed or torque of
the three-phase motor to suit the process. A wide area of
application is offered by the DF51/DF6 series with its
integrated V/f control. Frequency inverters DV51/DV6 additionally
feature sensorless vector control (SLV) and
vector control for example, for frequency and torque
control on drives with a very high dynamic response and load
demands. Optional communication modules enable integration
in industrial networks.
The "Drives-Soft" parameter definition software offers an
efficient tool for the device series DF51, DV51, DF6 and
DV6.
