Bodyshop
Whilst
every vehicle is different, the same can be said of
the body shell. The bodyshop is a highly automated
process that has to be matched to the individual
requirements of every series. This is also where the
"pace" is set for all other manufacturing steps.
High system availability is therefore an absolute
necessity.
Plant
shutdowns in bodyshop are like "heart failure" – in
just a short time horrendous costs result and the
entire production line can come to a standstill.
That’s why minimising this worst case scenario is
essential. Our products provide very useful support
in this respect. They comply with even more
stringent quality demands than demanded and provide
reliability for a smooth production process.
Today's
car body manufacturers still use resistance spot
welding as a principal joining process. A modern car
body therefore sometimes has more than 5,000 welding
points, and a high volume model requires about 800
welding controls. For all these systems a high level
of machine availability is essential, and the
circuit-breaker is a key component in the welding
control system.
Our NZM series circuit-breakers have earned a well
established reputation over several years in the
automotive production field, as well as with
international end customers and major machine
suppliers.
The
combination of industrial robots and welding guns
are used in the highly automated resistance welding
process. Whilst industrial robots have achieved a
high degree of technological maturity, welding tongs
guns are experiencing a technological breakthrough:
servo-drive tongs are gradually coming into their
own. Optimum and flexible control of the welding
tongs guns is guaranteed by the XC200 modular PLC. |
