Programming via Ethernet
|
 |
If a PS4 is
connected to Ethernet via CoBox, this connection can
also be used for programming. Virtually all modern PCs
come with an Ethernet interface so that no additional
costs are required at the PC end. If several PS4
controllers are linked to the Ethernet, they can all be
accessed very simply without having to replug cables. |

Ethernet communication with PS4
|
 |
If several
controllers are linked to Ethernet via CoBox, it is now
possible to exchange process data between PLCs using the
UDP User Datagram Protocol. Establishing this kind of
connection is made simple through the use of function
blocks. The transmit function block is simply given the
IP address of the CoBox connected to the other PLCs.
The "packing" of the data in the Ethernet telegram, the
sending of data and "unpacking" at the destination
system is then completely automatic. One telegram can be
used to transmit up to 240 data bytes. |

WEB server on board
|
 |
The CoBox
contains a WEB server that can be used to access the
data of the PS4 system. Ready-made user modules ensure
that access to all the marker data of the PLC is
menu-driven. Stats data is also transferred. As well as
data visualization and setpoint entry, this enables PLC
diagnostics to be carried out via the Internet and
Intranet with standard browsers. |

OPC server
|
 |
Virtually all SCADA, visualization and management
systems support the OPC client/server interface. The S40
OPC server provides the OPC clients with the process
data. The OPC server supports data access via the serial
interface and via Ethernet. In this operating mode, the
PS4-CoBox is automatically configured by the OPC server. |

Processing PS4 data on the PC
|

The PS40-link
Toolbox allows you simple access to PS4 data, enabling
communication via the local interface to be just as
straightforward as access via Ethernet. User-friendly
libraries for Visual Basic or Microsoft C applications
are available for implementing an interface. For
example, you can use Excel to read data from your PS4,
process it as a graph and also write parameter values to
the PS4. |
